Our Strategic Mapping

At UER, we are busy working to fulfill our ambitious vision:  creating thousands of privately owned green areas that provide critical ecosystem services to the region and stretch across our urban landscape. Now, more than ever, a vision like UER’s — one that calls on the private sector to join us as leaders and drive the restoration of our region forward — is essential for environmental progress.

To implement this vision, UER is working with the Maryland Environmental Trust (MET) to develop UER’s ecosystem restoration strategy in Maryland.  UER will identify key land parcels that, if restored with eco-functioning spaces (EFS), will materially strengthen the natural environment in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties.

But this work is just the beginning of UER’s larger Regional Restoration Program – an exciting initiative that will dramatically increase the number of protected eco-functioning spaces (EFS) across the Washington, D.C. metro region.

UER’s Regional Restoration Program will identify environmentally optimal sites, work with landowners to create EFS on those sites, and develop innovative strategies for protecting and stewarding those EFS over time.

With your help, we can expand this program beyond its early phases in Maryland — moving to landowner engagement, site restoration, and protecting these areas for the long term.  We will also seek to expand the program’s scope and coverage to the full DC region – including the District of Columbia and its suburbs in Northern Virginia.

D.C. region needs the progress we can make together.  Let’s do it.
