UER is an EPA WaterSense® Program Partner

UER has partnered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) WaterSense program to promote water efficiency, helping consumers and businesses save water and reduce costs on their utility bills.

WaterSense aims to decrease both outdoor and indoor water use through water-efficient products and water-saving practices. Since the program’s inception in 2006, WaterSense has helped consumers save 757 billion gallons of water and $14.2 billion in water and energy bills.

UER is proud to be a WaterSense partner.   Water efficiency is a central pillar of our mission to promote integrated environmental responses to 21st century environmental challenges. It is core to our work restoring ecosystem function in urban environments by installing and protecting Eco-Functioning Spaces. UER works with landowners to reduce water use in a number of ways, particularly by using Eco-Functioning Spaces to reduce outdoor water use and to recycle water into the built environment where possible.

What is the WasterSense program?

WaterSense promotes water-saving techniques and practices that reduce stress on water supplies.

The program encourages customers to look for WaterSense labeled products, which are independently certified to use 20 percent less water and perform as well as or better than standard models. Product categories eligible for the WaterSense label include toilets, bathroom faucets and accessories, weather-based irrigation controllers, and pre-rinse spray valves. WaterSense also offers a label for new single-family homes and multi-family units that include WaterSense labeled products, efficient hot water delivery systems, water-smart landscapes, and other water-efficient features.

The WaterSense program offers guidance on efficient outdoor water use for UER stakeholders, including both homeowners and commercial facility owners and managers.

We look forward to promoting the WaterSense program and to working with private landowners around the Washington, D.C. area to reduce water use with Eco-Functioning Spaces.
